Cash & travellers cheques can be changed at the banks from the city centre, though charges are pretty high ( up to 7 %). The best option is banque de la Republique du Burundi on Ave de Revolution. Another option is to look for dealers hanging around near the Dimitri supermarket (on Chaussee Prince Rwagasore).
